Pompa Circensis

The pompa circensis was a procession that took place before games in the Circus Maximus in Rome. The most famous seem to take place during the Ludi Romani, but we also hear of them during the Ludi Augustales, the Ludi Apollinares, and several other festivals. The ancient historian Dionysius of Halicarnassus provides a lively (and lengthy) description of the procession.
